Welcome to the 120th Portmarnock scouts website! The site is part of a new online movement for Irish scouts and is constantly being updated and refreshed with new information! We hope you will find it interesting and fun and will check back regularly!

The Den!
Planning permission notices have been erected at the site of the den and details drawings have been placed inside the PSLC. The log-cabin type build is the preferred design and we are negotiating with several companies for the best price...and best structure. The site is at the woods beside the children's playground and it hoped that in the future we can develop the woods for use by the group. We are busy pushing for the balance of the money (250K) to complete the build.

The Camp!
Our scouts camp to Isle of Man 2009 was a huge success, and everyone had a really fantastic time. The weather was great which added to the enjoyment of the super interactive and adventurous activities. All of the 31 scouts of our group are really had a great time and made lots of good friends and super memories. Our plans for camp 2010 are now under way and the venue is to Petersburg OEC, We were to travel to Austria, but with the recession we decided to keep the funds in Ireland this year. however we will finally decide at the next COH meeting. Check out further details under Peter's articles on what you need to do to organise a camp to Wiltz....or the Isle of Man!

The Fees!
The leaders have decided on a registration fee for 09/10 of €100 per scout - on a sliding scale if brothers and sisters are in other sections. National HQ gets €50 of the money and the rest goes towards our own unit funds, training, rents, equipment, and subsidising of events, we will probably see little change in the fees or arrangements in the future, except upward trend!.

Ventures!
Our venture Scout section is very active...altough we only have 6 members at present...they are preparing the the Gaisce, Presidents Award Gold and we wish them luck in their endeavours! They were presented with their Silver at a ceremoney at Trinity College in December '09
We are looking always looking for ideas for our venture section! the group is only formed last year and they would be interested in co-operating with some other groups to join with on activities etc.If you are interested please let us know via ScoutTalk! Four members went to Sweden/Denmark on the explorer belt during July and all four were successful....and...had a really great time.

Most of have just left scouts as we are too old and we enjoyed it so much we decided to continue it all and become ventures! So we set up our venture unit. Our official leader is Tomás Bell- who we would like to thank- but he mostly leaves us to oursleves and helps out whenever we need his support and fountains of knowledge!
