Stay safe on ScoutTalk! |
It is very important to us that ScoutTalk is a safe place for scouts. We have gone to every length to ensure that you are safe and happy on the site. But we cannot do it alone! We need you guys: the users to keep watch over your friends and other scouts around you. After all, that's what scouts is all about: participation. The internet has a bad name with parents and leaders for being dangerous to young people. Rightly so! It IS dangerous. No matter what you might think. Together, we need to keep ScoutTalk a safe heaven online where parents can trust that young scouts are safe from harm.
About the Whistle ...
Clicking the whistle icon on any page of the site will send an instant report to your administrator(s) asking them to come and have a look at that page. You will be given the chance to explain the issue before you send it to make it easier for them to find the problem. All reports are treated confidentially so the offending person will not know who reported them.
Click the whistle if ...
- You are being slagged, bullied or mistreated on the site.
- You notice someone else is being slagged, bullied or mistreated on the site.
- Another member is being abusive or offensive: swearing, posting pornography, sexual, violent, racist or degrading images, comments or stories.
- Someone you don't know in real life has asked to meet up with you.
- Someone you don't know has signed up to your section, patrol or watch.
- You feel uncomfortable, unsafe or unsure about someone or something on ScoutTalk.
IF IN DOUBT, REPORT IT!
You cannot click it wrongly and you cannot get in trouble for clicking.
It is there for you. USE IT.
You can also click the whistle on your ScoutTalk homepage if you're feeling unsafe anywhere on the internet! We'll check out the problem whether it be on bebo, msn or somewhere else and we'll make sure it gets sorted out. We're here for you!
