ScoutTalk is run by a small Irish web development company called
crondesign. The site runs independently from Scouting Ireland and while they do not currently have the resources available to officially approve or endorse the site, SI headquarters are well informed about ScoutTalk and have no problem with its use by groups around the country.
History:
ScoutTalk was conceived in early 2006 by Ciarán O'Kelly, a graphic & interactive
designer and ex-scout from Portmarnock Co. Dublin. After many long months
of work, ScoutTalk was finally put online in August 2006 for testing
and further development. The Portmarnock scout group were used as guiney
pigs and they helped to iron out the last few wrinkles in the user
pages. The site was opened up for Irish scouts on 4th September 2006
and before long there was a flurry of daily activity as new members
got to grips with uploading photos and using the talkboxes. In January
2007, the site was opened up for new group subscriptions and before
long, Clontarf Scout Group joined the Portmarnock group on the site.
ScoutTalk is now run by Ciarán O'Kelly, assisted by a small team of scout leaders and code testers.
